Victorian Ironmongers Shop counter Circa 1890–1910
A wonderful late Victorian shop counter dating from circa 1890–1910, full of authentic character and original features.
Constructed from solid timber, the cabinet comprises sixteen drawers fitted with original cast iron cup handles and brass label holders. The drawers retain their original handwritten trade labels, including Shoe Knives, Calipers, Dividers, Open Ended Spanners and Lino Knives, offering a fascinating insight into its former life within an ironmonger’s or tool merchant’s shop. Some of the drawers also retain their original timber dividers.
The beautifully worn timber top features an inset brass measuring rule, while over a century of honest use has created the rich patina and timeworn finish that only genuine age can produce.
Both practical and decorative, this versatile piece would make an exceptional kitchen island, storage cabinet, retail display or statement piece within a contemporary or period interior.
A rare survivor combining generous storage with genuine commercial provenance.
