Cladding Fitting Guidance

Wall Cladding Fitting Guidance

These guidelines are intended as general guidance only and are designed to help achieve the best possible finish when installing Lawson's Yard wall cladding.

Before Installation

  • For the best visual appearance, we recommend painting the wall behind the cladding matt black before installation. This helps create a shadow effect and disguises any minor gaps between boards.
  • Cladding can be fixed to timber battens or directly onto a timber panel such as plywood or OSB.
  • We generally recommend fitting to a timber panel where possible, as this provides a continuous fixing surface and removes the need for every board end to finish on a batten.
  • Fix boards using a suitable grab adhesive and pin nails.
  • Lay out a selection of boards before installation to achieve a natural blend of colour, texture and character.
  • Where boards require cutting, freshly cut edges may be visible and should be positioned accordingly during installation.

Reclaimed Timber Characteristics

Due to the reclaimed nature of the timber, variations in colour, grain, nail holes, saw marks, splits, shakes and surface texture should be expected and form part of the product's character.

Timber is a natural material and may respond to changes in temperature and humidity.

Important

These guidelines are intended as general guidance only. Installation methods may vary depending on the substrate and individual project requirements. It is the installer's responsibility to determine the suitability of the fixing method and substrate prior to installation.
