Victorian Pine Carpenters Chest

A beautifully timeworn Victorian carpenter’s chest, traditionally handcrafted in solid pine and built for a lifetime of use. Retaining its original heavy iron strap hinges, forged iron carrying handles and hand-cut dovetail joints, it is an honest working piece with exceptional presence.

The surface shows decades of honest wear, revealing layers of rich patina and texture, while the original painted ‘C’ monogram to the reverse provides a distinctive typographic detail that adds to its history and individuality.

Originally used for storing tools, the generous interior now lends itself equally well as a blanket chest, coffee table, boot room storage or end-of-bed trunk. The clean pine interior contrasts beautifully with the dark, weathered exterior, highlighting the craftsmanship of the piece.

Untouched in character, it has been cleaned, treated and then waxed to nourish and protect the timber while preserving its authentic appearance.

Substantial in weight and presence, this is a true working piece which we have treated and left in its dry state, authentic, and full of history.
